NSIFree tool · Which Jobs Pay

Know which jobs pay. Fix the one that doesn't.

Drop in a job export. See the margin every paid hour leaves by job type, the lowest price each one should sell for, and up to three decisions worth acting on. Your file never leaves this browser.

1. Your job file

One row per job. It needs a job type, revenue and labor hours. Drive hours, materials and lead cost are optional. Spreadsheet? Save it as CSV first.

Private by design

This page reads your file inside your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or sent to North Star.

Only the job type, revenue, hours and cost columns are read. Names, addresses, phone numbers and every other column are ignored. Closing this tab clears everything.

What it reads

  • job_type, revenue, labor_hours (required)
  • drive_hours, materials, lead_cost (optional)
  • Common headers in Spanish and Portuguese are recognized too, and you can pick the columns yourself after loading.

2. Your costs

These start as placeholders, not benchmarks. Replace them with your own numbers before you act on a result.

Wage plus payroll taxes, insurance and benefits.

Fuel, wear and insurance. Use 0 if it is already in your labor cost.

Used for jobs whose lead cost is not in your file.

What each paid hour should leave to cover overhead and profit.

How the numbers work

  • Paid hours = labor hours + drive hours.
  • Direct cost = labor hours × labor cost + drive hours × (labor cost + truck cost) + materials + lead cost.
  • Margin per paid hour = (revenue − direct cost) ÷ paid hours.
  • Price floor = average direct cost per job + target × average paid hours per job.
  • Rent, office staff and software are not in direct cost. The target is what covers them.
